Virtual Worlds @ Work Services

Sponsorship of VWW includes:

  • Workshops
Two workshops take place during the annual contract period, with discussions and presentations at SBI's headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
  • On–Site Client Discussion
One on–site discussion takes place at the sponsor's site during the annual contract period.
  • Virtual Meetings
Three sessions during the annual contract period take place in a virtual space (such as Second Life) to give sponsors an opportunity to experience how presentations and interactive discussions can work in this environment. Meetings may also include guided tours of selected virtual-worlds facilities and innovative operations.
  • Webinars
Two Web-based sessions during the annual contract period present some of the findings and insights resulting from our ongoing research and scanning and monitoring activities. A short question-and-answer period follows each presentation to allow for sponsor participation.
  • Consultations
Each sponsor is entitled to up to two days of consultation during the contract year. Consultations provide sponsors with the ability to follow up on their own proprietary issues with access to existing SBI expertise or publicly available information about specific questions. More in-depth consultations about additional issues are available for an additional fee.

Publications that sponsors receive:

  • Virtual Worlds Technology Map. A comprehensive Technology Map provides in-depth descriptions and analysis of key elements of virtual worlds, including key applications areas and major players.
  • Viewpoints. Eleven bulletins per year—including the annual Year-in-Review issue—update important events and notify of issues that will update the Technology Map.
  • Meeting Summaries. These reports summarize all workshops or meetings.
