International VALS™
Strategic Business Insights' long-standing international focus has resulted in the development of international VALS systems in addition to the U.S. VALS framework. We optimize international VALS systems on the basis of the rigorous methodology of the current U.S. VALS system to reflect cultural differences in language, consumer attitudes, and behavior. Despite their surface-level differences, VALS systems across cultures share several underlying similarities. For example, the basic contrast between traditional, achievement-oriented, and self-expressive consumers that is in U.S. VALS is evident among all current systems.

Efforts are under way to develop new VALS systems in other countries. We have recently completed system development in Venezuela and in the Dominican Republic.
