What is PayPal?

PayPal is a secure online-payment system. Owned by eBay, PayPal is a fast and safe way for individuals and businesses to send and receive money online for goods and services. PayPal allows any business or consumer with an email address and an internet connection to send and receive online payments using a credit card or bank account. There is no fee to use the service to purchase something from a third-party seller.

How does PayPal work?

When you sign up for a PayPal account, you must enter a credit card, debit card, or bank account number. PayPal's computer system performs a check to ensure that the account is active and has sufficient funds. Then you may use your PayPal account to send payments to other PayPal account holders (such as Strategic Business Insights [SBI]). Recipients are notified via email that they have received a payment from you.

You may also send payments (using a credit card) as a guest user through an alternate checkout process that does not require you to sign up for a PayPal account first. You simply enter your financial information and go! (You will have the option to sign up for an account afterwards, but it is not required.) However, be aware that until PayPal has verified your account, the amount of money a new user can send through PayPal is subject to a Sending Limit. To verify their account, a new user must confirm their email address and confirm a bank account.

What happens when I order something from SBI using PayPal?

When you place an order with SBI, our website directs you to a secure area of PayPal's website. After you confirm your order and enter your payment details, PayPal transfers your payment to our account (by deducting the payment amount from your bank account or charging your credit card). Security and privacy are assured. PayPal does not reveal your financial account information to SBI. You will receive a receipt of the transaction by email, and (if your PayPal account links to your credit card) the charge will appear on your credit card bill as "PAYPAL *STRATEGICBU". Once SBI receives your payment, we will begin processing your order.

Is PayPal secure?

Yes. PayPal uses the latest technology and proprietary procedures to protect the security of its transactions. PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to theirs, and once your information reaches PayPal, it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. In addition, PayPal never reveals your financial information to the people you pay.

Does it cost money to sign up for PayPal?

No. You can open a free personal PayPal account to send and receive money.

How do I sign up for PayPal?

When you click on a "Buy Now" or "Add to Cart" button, you will be directed to PayPal's secure site where you will be prompted to either login to your existing PayPal account or to use PayPal's quick checkout process (for which no account is needed). You may also sign up by visiting PayPal directly at www.paypal.com to create your account.
